Rhino & Lion Park
Departure Time 08:30
The Rhino and Lion Park "The Nearest Faraway Place" is a privately owned game reserve covering some 1200 hectares which was opened to the public in 1990. After humble beginnings - 2 white rhino and a few assorted small buck - visitors may now view a wide variety of game including some very rare and endangered species. Visitors can expect to see up to 600 head of game. The Reserve falls within the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site(COHWHS).
It had been the dream of Ed Hern for many years to have the largest pride of White Lions roaming freely, to breed and to be protected in a safe environment. And live as close to nature as possible. Because of their colour, white lions can only live in captivity as they cannot camouflage themselves as other lion species do.
The pride of lions has 4 females and 2 males, all of which come from different gene pools. This meant that breeding can take place naturally and safely in time to come. The animals range from 24 to 30 months in age and will be ready to breed soon. The offspring in this pride will be left with the parents and be brought up as part of the pride contrary to the present day method of hand rearing white lion cubs.
Price Per Person: R640 (min 2 person) 4-5 hrs
You can combine any 2 tours for a Full day
