Suggested 14-day itinerary

The outline below is a typical routing. Overnight stops and lodges may change depending on availability and your preferred standard (3–4 star, guesthouses or lodges).

Day 1: Johannesburg / Windhoek – Arrival in Namibia

Meet Pieter in Johannesburg for the overland journey into Namibia, or fly into Windhoek where I will meet you at the airport. Short city orientation and overnight in a guesthouse or hotel.

Day 2: Windhoek to Etosha National Park

Travel north to Etosha National Park. Late afternoon game drive (time permitting) and overnight near one of the main gates.

Day 3: Etosha – full day on safari

Full day in Etosha with game drives in different areas of the park. Look for elephants, lions, giraffes and plains game. Evening at the lodge or camp waterhole.

Day 4: Etosha – second full day

Extra time in Etosha to explore additional waterholes or return to favourite viewpoints. Having three nights here gives you a very good chance of seeing the main species.

Day 5: Etosha to Kavango / Zambezi region

Leave Etosha and travel via northern Namibia towards the Kavango or Zambezi (Caprivi) region. Arrive at a river lodge in time for sunset.

Day 6: Zambezi / Caprivi – river day

Enjoy the lush river scenery with optional boat trip or village visit (depending on lodge and water levels). Birding here is excellent and it offers a nice contrast to Etosha.

Day 7: Zambezi to Chobe, Botswana

Cross into Botswana and continue to the Chobe area. Afternoon at leisure or first Chobe activity, and overnight near the Chobe River.

Day 8: Chobe National Park – game drive & river cruise

Classic Chobe day: open-vehicle game drive followed by a Chobe River boat cruise looking for elephants, buffalo, hippos and crocodiles.

Day 9: Chobe – extra day on the river

Extra time in Chobe for another cruise or game drive, or simply to relax at the lodge. Three nights here give you flexibility with weather and sightings.

Day 10: Chobe to Victoria Falls

Short drive to Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe or Zambia side). Depending on arrival time, you may enjoy your first views of the Falls or a sunset cruise on the Zambezi.

Day 11: Victoria Falls – guided tour & activities

Guided visit to the Falls followed by free time for optional activities such as helicopter flips, bungee jump, market visit or village tour.

Day 12: Victoria Falls – free day

Relax at the lodge, explore the town or book additional activities. With three nights you are not rushed and can choose how busy or relaxed you want to be.

Day 13: Victoria Falls – buffer / extra activity day

Final full day at Victoria Falls to enjoy any last activities, souvenir shopping or a final Zambezi sunset cruise.

Day 14: Departure from Victoria Falls

Transfer to Victoria Falls Airport for your onward flight, or extend your holiday with extra nights or a link to Kruger or Cape Town.
