DETAILED ITINERARY 2 DAY PILANESBERG SAFARI
Day 1 - North West Province - Pilanesberg National Park
An early departure from Johannesburg/Pretoria as you are transferred to the malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park, a relatively new park only about 2-hours drive away in the North West Province. At 55 000 hectares, the Park is home to the "Big Five" (Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Elephant, Buffalo), 50 other species of large mammals, and 354 bird species. The entire park is situated in the remains of a 1 200 million year old volcanic crater. The night is spent in a Game lodge inside the Park. The suites are located on the edges of a natural
amphitheater, each features full en suite bathroom, mini bar fridges, air-conditioning and tea and coffee making facilities. Included are late afternoon game drives in specially adapted open safari vehicles.

Day 2 - End of Safari

SAFE VIEWING OF ELEPHANTS
An elephant weighs up to seven tons so it can inflict serious damage to vehicles or cause loss of life.
Show respect for elephants at all times.

PILANESBERG HISTORICAL SITES
H1 Archaeological interpretative site .The inhabitants lifestyle and culture during this early period before the arrival of white settlers is well illustrated . This site provides a well interpreted introduction to the iron age period .
H2. Iron age remnants . Pilanesberg is literally scattered with marked iron age sites , which were cattle outposts of the Batswana who settled the area since the 17th century.
H3 Bakgatla kgothla site . The distinctive Borite Hill named Letlapa la Kgamanyane, marks the historic Kgotla or meeting place of the Bakgatla chieftainship . The Bakgatla resided at Mabele-a-Podi village to the east of the Kgotla
